Ok so yesterday was Valentine's Day. So as love was in the air I decided to buy the best-seller of few weeks called P.S I love You by Cecelia Ahern. It was a nice romantic fiction novel, that is different from other books.
What set it a part ? For one thing the nice feeling that your loved one who has died is still looking out for you even though he/she has moved on (died). That is what happens to the main charac, Holly. Her husband Gerry( yes it's a G not J), died from a brain tumor, at first glance it maybe your typical feel-good-love-romance novel, but it isn't, the way Cecilia, weave into the plot the emotions of love, loss, and friendship seems to really connect to me. There some comic moments, such as the showing of Holly's bro Declan movie about the girls night out in club. The closeness between brothers and sister despite their vast personality differences, actually mirrors reality in which many of us who have bro and sis face. The friendship between friends are shown by Holly, Sharon and Denise, how the crack a joke with other and forgave each other after arguments.
Despite this I still feel the intense fondness between Gerry and Holly, through the letters, it is as though Gerry is speaking to Holly. In many ways it is guiding her to a new life without him. So most probably the main theme for this book is moving on after a person's death. The book shows us that is very hard, as displayed by Holly. No doubt that she shows an though outward appearence, but she is actually crumbling inside. So the lesson, never say forgetting a person is hard. Though the book shows a example of a loss of a spouse, Holly could be anyone of us, those who loss a dear one. Such as a father, mother, sibling, close friends or relatives or even your husband or wive, or your girlfriend/boyfriend. The book do show some touching moments that really shed a tear in one's eye. So if u you love struck people have nothing to do for these few days, go and read. don't forget to wish your loved one I love You ..hehe.
